querido Posted October 5, 2011 at 07:09 PM Report Posted October 5, 2011 at 07:09 PM "Happy Things" looks easier than "Home with Kids". It's "China's first animated TV sitcom". Advantages for the learner (I think) over 家有儿女: a lot less vocabulary?, slower. Disadvantages: a lot of Beijinghua?, some of the characters look and sound unnecessarily unpleasant. As with "Home with Kids" there's a textbook with DVD: http://www.chinasprout.com/shop/BLO175 To me, it's a lot less attractive but seems much easier. Any opinions? jasoninchina Posted October 6, 2011 at 04:49 AM Report Posted October 6, 2011 at 04:49 AM I would say both programs are at a low intermediate level. I do agree with you though that "Happy Things" is less attractive. This is essentially my problem with 快乐东西,家有儿女,快乐汉语; none of them are particularly interesting. I recently finished 爱上查美乐。The level of Chinese was a little high for me, but I was able to follow the plot every step of the way and learned a lot. Is it really that difficult to produce an interested program for Chinese learners? Quote
大肚男 Posted November 4, 2011 at 02:40 AM Report Posted November 4, 2011 at 02:40 AM based on this topic I watched an episode of 快乐东西。 while the animation was awful, I really liked it, it was funny, easy to understand, and without the annoying "kids" voices that plague many cartoons. thanks OP for the suggestion.
