Ailuo Posted October 6, 2011 at 01:13 AM Report Posted October 6, 2011 at 01:13 AM Hi, I teach Mandarin to middle school students in the United States. We are doing a unit about travel and are going to be talking about different regions in China, one of them being Sichuan. I would like to give the students an audio clip of the Sichuan accent to listen to. I am trying to find something simple that they would know how to say in Mandarin so they can hear the difference. They are only beginners (this is their second year), so something they know well, like numbers 1-10, or simple greetings would be great. Does any one know where I could get a short clip like that? (or even if someone speaks it, could make a quick recording, that would be great). Quote
xiaocai Posted October 6, 2011 at 10:25 AM Report Posted October 6, 2011 at 10:25 AM You need 四川话 accented Mandarin or 四川话? You can find the clips for the latter and . Quote
lansu Posted October 7, 2011 at 04:16 AM Report Posted October 7, 2011 at 04:16 AM I often used audio files found on The Speech Accent Archives when I was teaching in China ... Quote

xiaocai Posted October 8, 2011 at 09:29 AM Report Posted October 8, 2011 at 09:29 AM Alright, I will try to get my friend to do one for you. Because I have a horrible southern Sichuanhua accent so probably is not very friendly to new learners too... Okay, here is him counting from 1 to 10, in Chengdu accent. He is actually from west of the basin, but he's been living in Chengdu for more than 10 years so is quite good at the accent. 1-10.mp3 Quote
