CBA teams come and go, just like the foreign players on their rosters.

I used to be a Peking Ducks fan and also like the Army squad. (Ba Yi Rockets)

I wonder if Mengke Bateer will return to the CBA. He was a Duck.

I went to CBA headquarters in Beijing because I heard they have a gift shop there. However none of the CBA team jerseys were available for sale. They could make millions of yuan selling retro Yao Ming Shanghai Sharks jerseys, but do they have them? NOOOOOOOOOOO! (mei you)

you can sometimes find shanghai sharks jerseys in shanghai - put out by OBC (Oriental Basketball Club) - these differ from the ones the players actually wear on the court (which are made by adidas)

I actually bought two authentic CBA jerseys in the sports store inside of Shanghai Stadium 2 years ago - one from the Jilin Northern Tigers, one from the Guangdong Tigers. I'm thinking of getting Yi Jian Lian's number and name on the Guangdong one. The weirdest part is each jersey cost 50 RMB a piece - and they were authentic nike dri-fit. I was so surprised by the cheap price, that I had to ask the clerk to make sure they weren't 500RMB a piece.

Also, Bateer is living here in Houston down in Sugar Land. I'm not sure what he does with his days though.

I'm a Guangdong Tigers fan.

I'm 90% sure I saw Bateer in a CBA game on TV recently. I guess he is back in the league.

In any case, I know what you are saying about jerseys. I knew a guy here in Shanghai that went to a retailer and sent a ton of jerseys home to Georgia in order to make a huge profit.

ah - that must have been a while ago that I saw Bateer down here then. He's not particularily close to Yao Ming so I wasn't sure why he'd be living down here in Houston. We don't have a huge Chinese or Mongolian population. He's never played here. It was perplexing, but there's no mistaking a 6'10" 300 pound mongolian guy with a brush cut. I saw him sometime in Novermber or December - which I think is after the CBA season tips off.

My main man Mengke was playing in Huntsville, Alabama for the NBDL team there this season after getting waived by the Knicks during the NBA's pre-season back in November.

He returned to China this month to make a special appearance (and played) in the CBA All-Star game which was televised last week on CCTV 5.

It's interesting to note that the Shanghai Sharks missed the playoffs this season, finishing ninth overall in the league.

yeah, well, they seem to be missing a certain presence in the middle. I've seen Yi Jianlian play about 6 times - twice live. Not in any of those occasions has he impressed me at all. I can't believe they're thinking about making him a top-10 NBA pick.
