imron Posted October 20, 2011 at 12:24 AM Report Share Posted October 20, 2011 at 12:24 AM Because this is going to the R.O.C Are you sure? Looks like it's going the P.R.C. to me. If you put R.O.C. on it, it will end up in Taiwan. I would put your friend's name at the top (either in English or Chinese) and I would also put somewhere at the bottom in nice big letters: P. R. Hugh Posted October 20, 2011 at 04:15 AM Report Share Posted October 20, 2011 at 04:15 AM Yeah the address says Yunnan, which is very much PRC. I'd format it like this: 中国,云南省,昆明市 (zip code is here) 东风东路120号云南省化工研究院社管部 Your friend's name 收 PRC CHINA You might find this article off my site useful as well: http://eastasiastudent.net/1791/china/mandarin/cmn-writing/postal-address/

jbradfor Posted October 20, 2011 at 05:36 PM Report Share Posted October 20, 2011 at 05:36 PM And, for grins, here's its location on google maps http://maps.google.com/maps?q=%E4%B8%AD%E5%9B%BD%E4%BA%91%E5%8D%97%E7%9C%81%E6%98%86%E6%98%8E%E7%9B%98%E9%BE%99%E5%8C%BA%E4%B8%9C%E9%A3%8E%E4%B8%9C%E8%B7%AF120%E5%8F%B7&hl=en&ie=UTF8&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=53.432436,77.607422&vpsrc=0&hnear=China+YunNanSheng+KunMingShi+PanLongQu+Dong+Feng+Dong+Lu+120%E5%8F%B7&t=m&z=
abcdefg Posted October 20, 2011 at 08:47 PM Report Share Posted October 20, 2011 at 08:47 PM You need to also ask your friend his mobile phone number and put that on the package. That way if there are delivery concerns, China Post in Kunming can phone him for directions. I lived very near there earlier this year and my zip code was 650041. Would imagine his is is probably the same. If you need to verify his zip code, here's the Chinese for that: 邮政编码 = yóuzhèng biānmǎ -- often abbreviated as 邮编 = yóubiān I'd imagine your friend is working at the Yunnan Provincial MInistry of Chemical Industry and Research office on Dongfeng Donglu, between Baita Lu (白塔路)and East Ring Road (环城东路)in Pan Long District (盘龙区.) Though it may not be essential, you could also add the district to the address. That would make it: 中国,云南省,昆明市, 盘龙区 650041 东风东路120号云南省化工研究院社管部 Friend's name in English and Chinese; friend's phone number China The "China" written in English at the bottom is for the benefit of the postal employees in the country of origin. Lu Posted November 1, 2011 at 12:52 PM Report Share Posted November 1, 2011 at 12:52 PM I'd format it as 中国云南省昆明市[district]东风东路120号 云南省化工研究院社管部 [Friend's name] 收 PRC CHINA [zipcode] So without commas and with the zip code at the end. 'People's Republic of China China' is a bit redudant, but better safe than sorry I guess. You can add a 'Kunming' above 'CHINA' for further clarification. The address in English, if you need it: [Friend's name] Yunnan Provincial MInistry of Chemical Industry and Research Office Dongfeng Donglu 120 [District] Kunming Yunnan province CHINA
abcdefg Posted November 1, 2011 at 02:56 PM Report Share Posted November 1, 2011 at 02:56 PM Yes, of course no commas. What was I thinking?
