Satirical Posted February 4, 2015 at 05:54 AM Report Posted February 4, 2015 at 05:54 AM The people who have been in Chongqing for a while, could you report back? I've visited the city, back before they removed the skytram, and I really liked it. I remember winding alleyways and a lot of rubbish everywhere, but with spectacular views. Is the city still super polluted? How is the university? Quote
TyO Posted March 17, 2015 at 09:43 AM Report Posted March 17, 2015 at 09:43 AM well i highly doubt it got less polluted Quote
Matthewkell Posted May 23, 2015 at 11:51 AM Report Posted May 23, 2015 at 11:51 AM The pollution is actually OK. It's not the best but it's very far from the worst. Apparently it improved a lot during Bo Xilai's tenure, (I first arrived just after that incident) something to do with planting gingko trees everywhere. It actually appears to be smoggier than it is because it is a very foggy and cloudy city, so blue skies are extremely rare, but it's actually not exclusively because of pollution. (although it is certainly a contributing factor.) I like Chongqing very much, the food is pretty good and it's quite a lively, hectic city. A lot to explore and fairly dramatic scenery with the all the rivers, mountains, skyscrapers. Very green too and there are some nice parks. Quite a few revolutionary war sites too if communist history is your thing. I've lived here for over 2 years in total, teaching English, and hopefully will be going to Chongqing University to do MTCSOL in September, if my scholarship comes through. I know the city very well, if anyone has any questions about it feel free to ask me. Quote
