I studied there for a year from 2016-17. I love Chengdu. The language course is quite good and there are some good teachers (not sure if it's relevant for your master's).

 

The dorms I lived in for my first semester, but I lived in rented apartments on campus for my second semester. There are big communities of non-students living on campus, and it's quite affordable. Let me know if you have any specific questions.
