crouchingdragon Posted October 26, 2011 at 08:08 PM Report Posted October 26, 2011 at 08:08 PM I have heard the expression, Beijing Tong, to describe someone that is either an Expert about Beijing or 2) perhaps implies someone that has great affection for Beijing. Can someone please elaborate on the meaning of Beijing Tong, then write the correct form of Tong in this expression in Chinese so I may learn the character. Many Thanks, -M Quote
samitakamaki Posted October 26, 2011 at 08:58 PM Report Posted October 26, 2011 at 08:58 PM 通 is a suffix that denotes that someone is an expert. 中国通 means sinologue for example. 2 Quote
New Members Quentnin Posted October 27, 2011 at 01:15 AM New Members Report Posted October 27, 2011 at 01:15 AM Tong is 通,means know a lot about something. Beijing Tongs are those who familiar with Beijing, they do not have to be an expert. 1 Quote
