Laska555 Posted October 27, 2011 at 03:45 PM Report Share Posted October 27, 2011 at 03:45 PM This beautiful teapot has those stamps on the bottom of the lead and on the bottom of the teapot. Please can you help me with translation? I know that it's old, but how old? Is it valuable item? Thank you very much!
yersi Posted October 27, 2011 at 07:31 PM Report Share Posted October 27, 2011 at 07:31 PM The stamp in the first picture reads 宜兴紫砂名壶. Translated, it means "Famous Yixing clay teapot". Yixing is a special type of clay produced in Jiangsu which is considered perfect for making teaware. You can read more about it here. I can only make out one character in the third picture, but the characters themselves don't seem to give any indication of the pot's origins or its age. Maybe you could consult an expert on Chinese antiques?
