feihong Posted November 1, 2011 at 01:56 AM Report Posted November 1, 2011 at 01:56 AM Has anyone had any success posting comments to a blog post on an iPad? It's never worked for me, although I can create/edit posts just fine. Quote
jkhsu Posted November 1, 2011 at 04:28 AM Report Posted November 1, 2011 at 04:28 AM Nope, hasn't worked for me either. Quote
roddy Posted November 2, 2011 at 12:09 PM Report Posted November 2, 2011 at 12:09 PM I just installed the latest upgrade which is meant to have some iPad compatability fixes. Don't suppose, by any chance, that this is now working? If not I'll file a ticket. Also, Feihong, I remember you saying the Google Site Search pop-up didn't display properly on iPad. Is that still the case? It's all just more reasons for me to need an iPad . . . Quote
jkhsu Posted November 2, 2011 at 04:33 PM Report Posted November 2, 2011 at 04:33 PM @roddy: 1. I tried to post a comment in the 挑战 blog with my iPad2 just now and it still does not work. 2.The search pop-up results does not display anything when I search using my iPad2. Quote
roddy Posted November 2, 2011 at 04:49 PM Report Posted November 2, 2011 at 04:49 PM Arse. I'm assuming this is on the normal style, and not the mobile one? Quote
roddy Posted November 2, 2011 at 04:55 PM Report Posted November 2, 2011 at 04:55 PM Made some changes which *might* help with the blog comments, although to be honest I'm not sure. It does work on http://www.ipad-emulator.com/ though Quote
jkhsu Posted November 2, 2011 at 05:10 PM Report Posted November 2, 2011 at 05:10 PM The blog comments still does not work for me on the iPad. I'm on the normal style, not the mobile one. Quote
jkhsu Posted November 2, 2011 at 05:14 PM Report Posted November 2, 2011 at 05:14 PM I just tried posting in the blog using the mobile version on the iPad2 and it did work. So only the non-mobile version does not seem to work. Quote
feihong Posted November 2, 2011 at 06:48 PM Author Report Posted November 2, 2011 at 06:48 PM I'll make sure to try posting a blog comment on the mobile site when I get back from work. Before it definitely wasn't working in either version. Quote
jkhsu Posted November 2, 2011 at 11:02 PM Report Posted November 2, 2011 at 11:02 PM It does work on http://www.ipad-emulator.com/ though I've been told that there are a bunch of these sites around and they just have the website display in an iFrame to simulate how it "might" look in an iPad but are not really iPad emulators. Here's another one: http://ipadpeek.com/ Quote
roddy Posted November 4, 2011 at 12:00 PM Report Posted November 4, 2011 at 12:00 PM Quite possibly - certainly it was grabbing my browsers cookies. Just had a random thought about what the problem might be - if you want to have another shot now that'd be great. Or just buy me an iPad, whatever's easiest. Quote
feihong Posted November 4, 2011 at 12:20 PM Author Report Posted November 4, 2011 at 12:20 PM I tried it yesterday, and yes, I can post comments in the mobile version, but then I can't edit or delete them. And there doesn't seem to be any way to get back to the normal version of the site. Quote
roddy Posted November 4, 2011 at 12:27 PM Report Posted November 4, 2011 at 12:27 PM Not being able to edit or delete in mobile isn't really a bug I suspect, it's just a less-functional version. I was just going through template changes and it occurred to me that the change I made to make the spoiler tag available on blog comments might be the problem, so I've reversed that - if it's no hassle could you have another attempt. I only did that 30 mins ago. Quote
feihong Posted November 5, 2011 at 10:09 PM Author Report Posted November 5, 2011 at 10:09 PM Nope, still can't add blog comments on the normal version of the site. Quote
feihong Posted November 5, 2011 at 11:42 PM Author Report Posted November 5, 2011 at 11:42 PM Oh, but one thing that does work now: searching. Although for some reason I can't find this post when I search for it. Quote
roddy Posted November 6, 2011 at 02:45 PM Report Posted November 6, 2011 at 02:45 PM Good to know search is working - Google's indexing isn't instant or comprehensive, and in particular recent posts might not be covered. Will file a ticket tomorrow I guess. Quote
feihong Posted November 7, 2011 at 03:37 PM Author Report Posted November 7, 2011 at 03:37 PM @roddy: I turned on error reporting in Mobile Safari and took a screenshot of the errors I get from a blog detail page. The last JavaScript error, about CKEDITOR, only appears when I click on the "Add Comment" button. I guess that posting blog posts and forum posts works because they don't require CKEditor (when you're on a mobile device). Quote
roddy Posted November 7, 2011 at 03:52 PM Report Posted November 7, 2011 at 03:52 PM Thanks. I've filed a ticket now. I think there's an upgrade to the blog package in the works, although the comments bit may be a part of the core package. Anyway, see what they say and thanks for the massive patience. Quote
roddy Posted November 11, 2011 at 09:32 AM Report Posted November 11, 2011 at 09:32 AM They've fixed this now (allegedly) but I can't get hold of the patched file until it's released at some indeterminate point in the future. Quote
