Has anyone notice this during exams?

I'm sure all of you have, but i can't believe how easy they give marks away, specifically in reading exams. Not sure if this applies for higher chinese language classes, but in my exams, you can normally find the answers later on in the test for the first few questions. For example, we were given the pinyin and had to write the characters, but most of the characters appear later on in the test! Also, a common one is to make a word with a given character; turn over to the next page, you'll find loads of words that include said character!

Maybe it's just my university being rubbish at designing tests...

This reminds me of when I was a kid doing Irish language homework. A typical sequence of questions might be:-

Where did Mary go?

Why did Mary go to the shop?

What did Mary buy in the the shop?

How much was the apple Mary bought?

...

Many times I did my homework without even reading the text. :-)

But I have to agree with anonymoose, the HSK tests are not that easy.

That's just badly designed exams. It's not impossible they're trying to give marks away to boost grades.

Yes, in my first semester but it has never happened ever since. Perhaps they want to encourage new learners to continue.

I'd guess from the limited vocabulary. I didn't have much to go on while writing essays for my 自然辩证法概论 class. Teacher tells us last week we have our final exam and a 3000 character book review due in one week, because our class is ending early (November 1st instead of January).

I failed.
