geek_frappa Posted October 31, 2003 at 05:04 PM Report Posted October 31, 2003 at 05:04 PM i am gathering a wish list for features on the new version of NJStar. Hopefully, we can all work together to create an even better IME. any suggestions? word combination and tone marks is one of the most popular requests for improvements. do you feel the same way? any other ideas? xie xie. Tsunku Posted November 1, 2003 at 05:07 PM Report Posted November 1, 2003 at 05:07 PM I use the IME that comes on windows XP, never bothered with NJstar myself. Ever since I figured out how to get it up and working on my comp. here in the states I've been using it like crazy and never really had any problems. Quote
geek_frappa Posted November 1, 2003 at 06:45 PM Author Report Posted November 1, 2003 at 06:45 PM he heheee... i feel bad for the guys at NJStar. the have lost their market share to windows XP's IME. now, they'll need to beg for customers... you are absolutely correct. why pay $100 for something you can use in Windows XP for free... [/quote'] speaking of windows IME, is there a mode that supports typing out a whole big mess of pinyin and then adding the characters at the end? i used njstar in the past and i always typed that way (i much prefer it to typing one word at a time) and is there anyway to get an update to IME? IME doesn't seem to have a lot of recent words like email and such.. Quote
geek_frappa Posted November 2, 2003 at 01:45 AM Author Report Posted November 2, 2003 at 01:45 AM i don't think there is a mode where you can do that ... word combination is a big concern for most users ... how much would you pay for an IME that could do that? i haven't seen an update. Quote
pazu Posted November 20, 2003 at 07:03 PM Report Posted November 20, 2003 at 07:03 PM I hope NJSTAR's IME can stick to the rule of the IME in Microsoft. I mean the order of characters, etc. (I'm using Cangjie Input Method). And in Cangjie you can input the full stop mark by "zxad" which is quite handy if you can remember the key combinations. I remember zxad (。) zxab (,), zxac (、) , zxcd 「 zxce 」 , etc. Quote
geek_frappa Posted July 7, 2004 at 03:48 PM Author Report Posted July 7, 2004 at 03:48 PM you should work for NJStar or Microsoft. maybe we can start our own company and create some competition for these companies. lack of competition brings bad software releases.. the new NJStar is here... http://www.njstar.com/ you may be disappointed... i am, a little... xuechengfeng Posted July 7, 2004 at 06:41 PM Report Posted July 7, 2004 at 06:41 PM I would be willing to help venture in a new company, as I'm not completely satisfied with anything I've seen. Where can I download this Microsoft thing you're talking about? Problems I have with NJ Star.. -not enough definitions, simple english words aren't translated when you look in the dictionary -lack of pinyin with tones makes it impossible for the beginner to sort through all the versions of ji -blowing up the fonts doesn't help, the character text is almost unrecognizable Quote
pazu Posted July 8, 2004 at 01:30 PM Report Posted July 8, 2004 at 01:30 PM I have said in another post that NJSTAR has too much money to burn, I have to cancel what I have said. I have tried using their new NJSTAR Chinese WP yesterday and found it extremely good for learning Chinese. You should really have a look. They have a new function in their version 5.0, it's hidden in the menu of "Tools", the "Word Annotation". Here's an automatic generated examples of an article from Duowei Xinwen Wang. I hope there is some similar program for learning other languages too. And the new program "NJSTAR Chinese Pen" is also worth a look. The Text-to-Speech function is quite smooth. I must admit that these two programs are quite useless to me (a Chinese), but it should be very useful for Chinese learners. Quote
