Brandon263 Posted November 3, 2011 at 04:06 PM Report Share Posted November 3, 2011 at 04:06 PM I've tried Baiduing it, but there doesn't seem to be a clear definition. (Or maybe I'm bad at using search engines.) Can anyone help?

Brandon263 Posted November 3, 2011 at 06:09 PM Author Report Share Posted November 3, 2011 at 06:09 PM Thanks skylee. So, the name's purpose seems to be to contrast the reform era's smaller, more colorful packs of rice with the larger, more dull sacks of rice common in the pre-reform era. Can someone confirm this distinction? I'm basing my guess on this: "拿着粮票、背着麻袋去扛米是上世纪50年代到80年代中国老百姓生活中常见的情景。随着粮食购销完全市场化,取而代之的是大米包装越来越小。。。" http://www.zj.xinhuanet.com/newscenter/2011-03/31/content_22423020.htm
