Jakegwood Posted November 6, 2011 at 09:35 PM Report Posted November 6, 2011 at 09:35 PM How do you translate loud and soft? I have asked a few of my friends this and looked it up in so many dictionaries, and there doesn't seem to be one way to say this. How would you say Play [an instrument] loudly Play [an instrument] softly Loud music Low Volume Music Soft music Any other general terms for these two words in non musical context? The difference I understand between soft music and quiet music is style. You can play heavy metal at a low volume, but then classical music is generally just soft music, regardless of what volume you play it. Thanks! Quote
skylee Posted November 6, 2011 at 11:19 PM Report Posted November 6, 2011 at 11:19 PM Different musical instruments require different verbs. For example, when you play a piano you 彈(奏)鋼琴, when you play a violin you 拉小提琴, and when you play a flute you 吹笛子. Consider - loudly - 大聲地 softly - 輕輕地 Quote
