Can anyone comment on DMU? I've been doing a lot of research on it lately and it seems there's not tons of info!

 

The housing situation looks good, but I'm a big concerned at the number of foreign students there. Are there too few? And also a bit about the Chinese students there..seeing that it's a maritime university it's my impression that maybe they're not interested in making foreign friends in the same way that maybe the students at a teaching/normal university would be. I could be totally off though...if anyone could comment on any facet of this university it would be great.

I studied here on a CSC Scholarship in 2010.

 

There are plenty of students from all walks of life.  When I was there, there were 2 other Americans, some French students, an Indian, Sri Lankans, many Russians and Koreans, and some students from the 'Stans.

 

Had a great time.  They have a good volunteer organization that helps foreign students.  My listening teacher was a complete joke though, but I think she got fired after one semester.  The international dorms were pretty good when I was there, but they were building a new one at the same time, so by now it must be even better.

 

Dalian is a great city, great life, the university isn't way far out so it's convenient to get a taxi or a bus into the city or to the beach.
