Liebkuchen Posted November 19, 2011 at 07:07 AM Report Posted November 19, 2011 at 07:07 AM Spring festival break at my uni is 16th Jan to 10th February. I'd like to travel to Beijing and Shanghai/ Suzhou in 2 seperate trips. When would be the best times to travel if I want to avoid the crowds? Quote
shuhaier Posted November 19, 2011 at 08:21 AM Report Posted November 19, 2011 at 08:21 AM The Eve is on 23th, I think。 So 16th, 25th to 26th of Jan, 1th to 5th of Feb might be better. The first gap is to avoid crowds going home, the second to avoid crowds going back work, the third to avoid students going back to school 1 Quote
Liebkuchen Posted November 19, 2011 at 02:20 PM Author Report Posted November 19, 2011 at 02:20 PM Thankyou- exactly the sort of info I was hoping for. My pals travelled to Xi'an during the October hols and the train situation was my idea of hell. I'll try and get some travelling done before the hols when I have some spare space on my timetable. Cheers! Quote
shuhaier Posted November 19, 2011 at 02:26 PM Report Posted November 19, 2011 at 02:26 PM Try flights if you could. 16th is already within 20days before and after Spring Festival, so it will be still horrible if you take trains. Buses(正规的)will be better as cops are always keeping an eyes on them during that period. Quote
WestTexas Posted November 21, 2011 at 05:21 PM Report Posted November 21, 2011 at 05:21 PM man, that's a really short break. I get December 23rd to March 1st. Quote
