MaLaTang Posted November 20, 2011 at 03:53 AM Report Posted November 20, 2011 at 03:53 AM 一齐 and 一起....both have the same meaning...but grammatically, can they be used in the same way? 我们一齐车饭吧。。...... is this correct? Quote
imron Posted November 20, 2011 at 04:38 AM Report Posted November 20, 2011 at 04:38 AM 一齐 and 一起....both have the same meaning They do not have the same meaning. My dictionary says this: “一起”跟“一齐的用法不同。“一起”表示合在一处或同一地点;“一齐”表示同一时间。 2 Quote
rezaf Posted November 20, 2011 at 04:48 AM Report Posted November 20, 2011 at 04:48 AM I understand that they have different meanings but I don't understand why my dictionary says in 大家一齐鼓起掌来 we can't use 一起. but I somehow understand why in 我和工人一起劳动了三个月 we can't use 一齐 Quote
Kenny同志 Posted November 20, 2011 at 05:07 AM Report Posted November 20, 2011 at 05:07 AM Imron, what's the dictionary you're using? Quote
creamyhorror Posted November 20, 2011 at 05:52 AM Report Posted November 20, 2011 at 05:52 AM I understand that they have different meanings but I don't understand why my dictionary says in 大家一齐鼓起掌来 we can't use 一起. Maybe because 大家 is already together, so 一起 is redundant, and 一齐 is needed to emphasize they all clapped at the same time? I would just use 一起 anyway though Quote
rezaf Posted November 20, 2011 at 06:06 AM Report Posted November 20, 2011 at 06:06 AM On baidu I searched quite a few example sentences similar to 大家一齐鼓起掌来 and it seems that native speakers don't really care about the difference so much. Anyway I need to study for my exam. You guys figure it out. Quote
xiaocai Posted November 20, 2011 at 06:52 AM Report Posted November 20, 2011 at 06:52 AM “一起”有名词用法,表示在同一个处所,而“一齐”没有 This makes sense to me though. Otherwise I think they are almost interchangeable. Quote
MaLaTang Posted November 20, 2011 at 07:46 AM Author Report Posted November 20, 2011 at 07:46 AM ok, so in a classroom, when the teacher is drilling pronunciation and wants all the students to repeat together what he or she says ,...and he/she says.. '我们读一读。。。开始。。。yiqi.....now which yiqi is this? im assuming 一齐。。。or would both be applicable here? Quote
WestTexas Posted November 20, 2011 at 08:38 AM Report Posted November 20, 2011 at 08:38 AM I've read 一齐 translated as "In unison" whereas 一起 is translated simply as "together", don't know if this is correct or not but if it is it would seem helpful. Quote
imron Posted November 20, 2011 at 10:49 AM Report Posted November 20, 2011 at 10:49 AM Imron, what's the dictionary you're using? I use PlecoDict with the 现代汉语规范词典, which has all sorts of useful notes regarding word usage for commonly confused/misused terms. It's an extremely useful dictionary for Chinese learners. Quote
Kenny同志 Posted November 20, 2011 at 12:22 PM Report Posted November 20, 2011 at 12:22 PM That's cool. Haha Pleco has a very good reputation among Chinese learners. Quote

Think of times in English where you'd use 'all together' - starting off a song, drilling pronunciation, getting everyone to say cheese (or eggplant) for a photograph. Quote
Hofmann Posted November 20, 2011 at 06:40 PM Report Posted November 20, 2011 at 06:40 PM Maybe they're watching TV in different places. Something caused them to clap. So they did it together. Quote
