skylee Posted January 10, 2005 at 09:32 AM Report Posted January 10, 2005 at 09:32 AM Read the Book and the Sword on-line first. It is free. -> http://www.earnshaw.com/past_version/earnshaw9602/B&S.htm Consider buying only if you still like wuxia novels after reading this one (I am not saying it is bad). Quote
Trojan Posted January 10, 2005 at 06:08 PM Author Report Posted January 10, 2005 at 06:08 PM Is there any of his more famous books? Such as- the Eight Legends of the SkyDragon Or the Trilogy of Condor ? Quote
in_lab Posted January 11, 2005 at 02:08 AM Report Posted January 11, 2005 at 02:08 AM I had never really considered the possibility that I wouldn't like a martial arts novel. But's it's possible. I used to love kung fu movies, but the only thing like a kung fu movie that I remember seeing in the last couple years is "The Touch." Trojan, unless you want comics, it looks like that's all that is available in English. I suspect Jin Yong's novels are available in most Asian languages. Some Vietnamese friends of mine had read tons of them. Edit: I saw Hero and House of the Flying Daggers too, but it's insulting to put them in the same category as The Touch. Quote

Hann Posted January 17, 2005 at 04:43 PM Report Posted January 17, 2005 at 04:43 PM What is 'The Touch' an imdb site brought up nothing. Quote
in_lab Posted January 18, 2005 at 02:58 AM Report Posted January 18, 2005 at 02:58 AM Check near the top of Michelle Yeoh's filmography. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000706/ This lists Hua Mulan as "in production." The last I heard about that, it had been scrapped. I haven't seen "Silverhawk" in the theaters or on VCD. I'll keep looking. Quote
