New Members adamintz Posted December 4, 2011 at 08:48 PM New Members Report Posted December 4, 2011 at 08:48 PM I've tried for hours to create a profile on a Chinese site, but I can never seem to get the Captcha right. Maybe it's the way I'm copying and pasting the characters in or maybe I am just getting them wrong entirely. Here's the latest one: If someone else could type it for me, maybe I could try copying and pasting theirs. Quote

Hofmann Posted December 5, 2011 at 01:23 AM Report Posted December 5, 2011 at 01:23 AM Just use 美 1 Quote
WestTexas Posted December 5, 2011 at 04:05 AM Report Posted December 5, 2011 at 04:05 AM This 羙 character seems extremely uncommon. It's not in three of the online dictionaries I checked; Baidu dictionary is the only one that has it. Do most Chinese people even know it? It seems weird to use it in a captcha Quote
yonglin Posted December 5, 2011 at 05:39 AM Report Posted December 5, 2011 at 05:39 AM I just used the handwriting recognition tool and picked 羙 because the bottom part of the captcha looked so much like 火. However, apparently 羙 is an ancient version of 美, so I take it that Hofmann is correct. Quote
Hofmann Posted December 5, 2011 at 07:40 AM Report Posted December 5, 2011 at 07:40 AM It's not 火 down there. It's a loop and a dot. Quote
