gingerspice Posted December 6, 2011 at 10:18 AM Report Share Posted December 6, 2011 at 10:18 AM Hi, I'm wondering if someone could help me out. I'm looking how to say "breathtaking" in Mandarin. If anyone could help, I'd appreciate it. Thank you so much!

gingerspice Posted December 7, 2011 at 05:05 AM Author Report Share Posted December 7, 2011 at 05:05 AM Thank you both so much but I should have been more specific, I'm sorry. I meant breathtaking as in "beautiful" or "flawless". Not as in your breath literally being taken away. I hope this clarifies things a bit. skylee Posted December 7, 2011 at 05:31 AM Report Share Posted December 7, 2011 at 05:31 AM Consider 教人屏息 -> 美得教人屏息/完美得教人屏息/教人屏息的(完)美 etc.
gingerspice Posted December 7, 2011 at 07:22 AM Author Report Share Posted December 7, 2011 at 07:22 AM Hi skylee, I don't have my dictionary with me so I'm having a little bit of trouble translating. You are saying that 教人屏息 means to tell someone they are breathtaking.... and 美得教人屏息/完美得教人屏息/教人屏息的(完)美 etc. are just longer ways of saying 教人屏息? Right? creamyhorror Posted December 7, 2011 at 07:55 AM Report Share Posted December 7, 2011 at 07:55 AM 教人屏息 = 使人屏息 = 让人屏息, to cause [one] to hold [one's] breath, i.e. to take someone's breath away. For a performance, evocation or work of art that stirs the soul, you can use 回肠荡气.
