wushijiao Posted January 11, 2005 at 09:25 AM Report Posted January 11, 2005 at 09:25 AM It seems like the Arab world is possibly undergoing dramatic transformation right now. Of course, Mahmoud Abbas was just elected in Palestine. Sharon is confronting settlers and the religious right in Israel. Iraq is due for elections on Jan. 30th. In theory, for the first time in decades, the foundations for a permanent Israel/Palestinian peace argeement might be in the works now because the American, Palestinian and Israeli governments all want to broker a deal. Likewise, another Arab country, Iraq, might have successful democratic elections, although it is unlikely due to terrorism/sectarianism. . Do any of you have any particular opinions on these events? Are there any posters from the Arab world that could shed some light on these events? Quote
