Inoc Posted December 12, 2011 at 09:57 PM Report Posted December 12, 2011 at 09:57 PM If you own and use the $25 AnkiMobile app for iPhone/iPad/iPod, I have some questions for you. I've been reading the reviews for this app, but now I'm thoroughly confused about what to expect from this app. I guess I thought the iOS version of Anki would basically be able to replicate most if not all of the functions of the desktop app, but it seems that it isn't even possible to create flashcards on this app? Can someone please detail what you can (and cannot) do with this app? Also, if you've used both the AnkiMobile app and the online AnkiWeb website, can you please compare and contrast the two? Thanks! feihong Posted December 12, 2011 at 10:03 PM Report Posted December 12, 2011 at 10:03 PM I'm pretty sure you can make cards using AnkiMobile, but I don't recommend it. My preferred way of making cards is to type them out line by line, then import them using the desktop version of Anki. Afterwards sync with AnkiWeb, then go into AnkiMobile and sync again. Quote

tooironic Posted December 12, 2011 at 11:13 PM Report Posted December 12, 2011 at 11:13 PM Not entirely the same app, but I use the free version of AnkiDroid for Android and it allows you to create both decks and cards. Unfortunately you can't add things like pinyin fields, but it does everything else I want it to do. Quote
wedge Posted December 13, 2011 at 10:14 AM Report Posted December 13, 2011 at 10:14 AM I use Anki for iPhone almost everyday. It can perform many of the functions of the desktop app like adding and editing cards but not nearly as quickly. I still love it because it is great for reviewing cards and syncing between iPhone and PC is very smooth. I still wouldn't say syncing is completely seamless since you still have to remember to hit 'sync' instead of it happening automatically like with, say, Dropbox. I tried AnkiWeb before and I just found it clunky compared to the desktop and iPhone apps. Quote
