HedgePig Posted December 15, 2011 at 12:43 AM Report Posted December 15, 2011 at 12:43 AM I came across this sentence on engkoo recently. 你怎么总是丢三落四的厌恶。 It was translated as "Why are you always leaving things behind?" The translations seems reasonable to me but the use of 厌恶 (yàn wù) has me confused. What is it's function? Is it to indicate the speaker's disgust or annyance? How would leaving it out change the meaning? 谢谢! Quote

creamyhorror Posted December 15, 2011 at 09:12 AM Report Posted December 15, 2011 at 09:12 AM I came across this sentence on engkoo recently.你怎么总是丢三落四的厌恶。 It was translated as "Why are you always leaving things behind?" That sentence as quoted is ungrammatical. As SN showed, it's been misquoted and 厌恶 isn't part of the sentence. 1 Quote

HedgePig Posted December 15, 2011 at 10:55 AM Author Report Posted December 15, 2011 at 10:55 AM Ahh......I missed the fact that in sn's quote the 厌恶 was in parentheses. Thanks for clearing that up, creamyhorror. In my source, there were no parentheses. It all makes sense now. Quote
