Areckx Posted December 20, 2011 at 05:05 PM Report Posted December 20, 2011 at 05:05 PM I was getting kind of tired looking for podcasts that were both interesting and useful, so I decided to just download videos from http://www.tudou.com with http://www.wantyoutube.com and convert them to mp3 using converterlite. https://docs.google....jBhNThhZDBhMmFl converter lite , you can google if you want the latest version. Make sure your filenames AREN'T in Chinese, otherwise they won't convert. You can rename them afterwards if you must. Also make sure when installing that you click on custom installation and unclick the extra programs it wants to install, and when you click next, click on skip to skip the extra program. Sometimes you will run into .f4v files, which this won't convert. For these I use f4v2mp3, a chinese program, so if your OS isn't set to Chinese, it'll show up with a bunch of question marks on all the buttons. https://docs.google....jQxODlmNDNkNTVj I can just download whatever I want and convert it to mp3, sit back, and get my listening practice in. Right now I've been listening to huoying renzhe and si shen (火影忍者 - Naruto) (死神 -Bleach) as well as various podcasts, in addition to my radio listening when I have internet access, and of course I have my favorite music on my mp3 player. Also listen to Beijing News on http://www.tunein.com mainly 100.6 北京新闻广播 and Yes 93.3 FM 3 Quote
Saluki Posted December 21, 2011 at 12:33 PM Report Posted December 21, 2011 at 12:33 PM That's really helpful - Thanks. 1 Quote
c_redman Posted December 21, 2011 at 05:06 PM Report Posted December 21, 2011 at 05:06 PM FFmpeg can convert f4v, and probably all the other formats you are working with. The command line functionality could also be useful for batch or automated processing. ffmpeg -i video.f4v -vn video2.mp3 Quote
Areckx Posted December 21, 2011 at 05:35 PM Author Report Posted December 21, 2011 at 05:35 PM Oh thank you, I was looking all over for f4v convert but everything was buy only except for the weird program I found. The one you posted looks better already just looking at the homepage! lmao windows users http://ffmpeg.zeranoe.com/builds/ although for now since I am only using shared computers, f4v2mp3 is my best option for f4v files. I try to find an flv if at all possible. Quote
semantic nuance Posted December 22, 2011 at 02:33 AM Report Posted December 22, 2011 at 02:33 AM I try to find an flv if at all possible. Do you mean you want to find a free flv convert to mp3 software? If yes, you may try here. Or, simply use Firefox, you can download flv or convert to mp3 format directly from youtube. Quote
Areckx Posted December 22, 2011 at 04:27 PM Author Report Posted December 22, 2011 at 04:27 PM No, I use converterlite for that. What I meant was that I try to avoid f4v files, since converterlite doesn't convert these, which I use f4v2mp3i for. (as stated in my OP) Quote
semantic nuance Posted December 23, 2011 at 01:34 AM Report Posted December 23, 2011 at 01:34 AM Sorry for that, Areckx Quote
Areckx Posted December 29, 2011 at 12:55 AM Author Report Posted December 29, 2011 at 12:55 AM It was just a misunderstanding, it's no problem. Lately I've been doing a TON of listening and my brain is sort of starting to ramble, so I decided to read some more. Naruto has been my favorite comic for about ten years now, and it was the English Shonen Jumps that actually got me started writing kanji (汉字 / 漢字) in a graph paper notebook of mine. I still have the notebook and it was fun looking through it and seeing how much my writing has improved. For that matter, I haven't really been writing in my Japanese journal for quite awhile. I know that my listening skills need a lot of improvement, but I would like to get in the habit again. It would also get me more in the habit of writing Chinese readings in the margins, and once my language levels improve, I can start journaling in Chinese!! Quote
