Geiko Posted December 20, 2011 at 10:44 PM Report Posted December 20, 2011 at 10:44 PM I've tried to find posts about 書法, but it seems there aren't, so I decided to write about it. From october to mid-december I took some calligraphy classes and loved it, and thought that maybe there are other people in this forum who like 書法, we could share some thoughts. As you can see, I still have to practise a lot, but it's really interesting. Quote
Hofmann Posted December 21, 2011 at 07:20 PM Report Posted December 21, 2011 at 07:20 PM You've probably seen some of my posts then. Who have you been practicing? Doesn't look like a 唐人. Quote
Geiko Posted December 21, 2011 at 08:08 PM Author Report Posted December 21, 2011 at 08:08 PM No, I haven't! I couldn't find any posts about calligraphy... During my calligraphy course we simply copied the characters our teacher had previously written. She used 楷书 style, but I'm not sure if she was following a particular calligrapher. Now that the classes are over I'm practising with a book which in fact is about Japanese calligraphy, but I find it very didactive. And finally I've also bought these copybooks with 欧阳询、柳公权 and 颜真卿 works. What about you? How long have you been practicing calligraphy? Quote
jono1001 Posted December 21, 2011 at 11:41 PM Report Posted December 21, 2011 at 11:41 PM Next year I will learn a unit of work on Chinese Calligraphy. I would be very interested to know more about your year of study. Please post some details of how and where you learned Calligraphy. Quote
Hofmann Posted December 22, 2011 at 01:05 AM Report Posted December 22, 2011 at 01:05 AM I've been studying for few years, practicing 歐陽詢's 九成宮醴泉銘. The best materials I've found are the 每日一題每日一字 series by 田蘊章 (who also practices 歐陽詢). I also recommend reading this and this and watching this series. Quote
keniyaren Posted December 26, 2012 at 02:24 AM Report Posted December 26, 2012 at 02:24 AM I would also love to study Chinese Calligraphy. Does anyone have some e-books to share, just for some introduction? Quote
Hofmann Posted December 26, 2012 at 06:10 PM Report Posted December 26, 2012 at 06:10 PM Wow. Revived after a year. Anyway, books; depends on whether or not you can read Chinese. Quote
Preet Posted August 25, 2013 at 08:24 AM Report Posted August 25, 2013 at 08:24 AM I'm also keen to study Calligraphy, it looks so beautiful and helps to create presence of mind. It's quite common for those learning Qigong and Taiji to learn Calligraphy - currently studying Zhineng Qigong & Dao Taiji in China - i've also noted that those who master calligraphy are also master swordsmen as they say it's all about how you move and co-ordinate your wrist. I've seen our Laoshi writing and asked him when I can start but he advised me after the course has finished - which is when I'll permanently be relocating to China, or atleast for as long the the Universe sees fit - Quote
