Reading & writing programs for an illiterate?

Hi all, are there any reading and writing programs in Beijing? I just graduated this past semester and in February will visit my parents who are currently working in China.

I've grown up speaking Chinese and consider my spoken Chinese level to be intermediate/advanced, but my written Chinese ability is laughably non-existent. My ideal situation would be finding an adult literacy program for middle-aged locals (which would probably be the best immersion), but would be open to anything that gets me learning at least 800-1000 characters under my belt and without emptying my pockets too much.

Of course if anyone thinks I should just bite the bullet and spend a few months re-learning the basics in any of the beginner level classes, I'm open to your advice.

tl;dr: college graduate, have 3-6 months to become literate in Chinese, will be based in Beijing starting in Feb--what do you suggest?

Thanks!
