Use of 項 (?) in this sentence

I was listening to the news and heard something which sounded like 項, although I'm not sure if it's correct.

Here's the sentence I heard:

污染物從三項增加到了七項

What exactly would xiang4 mean in this sentence? (If it's not xiang4, what could it be?)

It's a measure word for item, clause, etc. Roughly, the list of pollutants monitored has gone from 3 to 7 items.
