paperbagprince23 Posted January 6, 2012 at 07:26 PM Report Posted January 6, 2012 at 07:26 PM I am looking for a way to say 做梦 but one which has a bit more of a 书面语 feel to it. I a writing an essay, and I don't want to keep saying "做梦” "做梦“。 It is okay if it is not such a common usage. I thought about "想个梦” and "弄梦“ but i don't think either one works, makes sense grammatically and is that 好听。 I tried to look it up, but no luck. Thanks Quote

skylee Posted January 7, 2012 at 12:32 AM Report Posted January 7, 2012 at 12:32 AM Again some context may help. I am not sure if you simply means someone is asleep and dreaming, or someone is having some unrealistic expectations, etc. For the latter you may consider using the chengyu 黃粱一夢. Quote
paperbagprince23 Posted January 7, 2012 at 02:37 AM Author Report Posted January 7, 2012 at 02:37 AM I mean one is actually sleeping and dreaming. I am aware of the above chengyu, but thanks. I am trying to find a verb to replace 做. Quote
Guoke Posted January 7, 2012 at 04:53 AM Report Posted January 7, 2012 at 04:53 AM You can say 发梦 Quote
Hofmann Posted January 7, 2012 at 05:51 AM Report Posted January 7, 2012 at 05:51 AM What's so colloquial about 做夢? The next step would be straight to 夢 (the verb). Quote
imluffy Posted January 7, 2012 at 06:15 AM Report Posted January 7, 2012 at 06:15 AM How about "见到周公了"? "见到周公" 的意思就是 “做了个梦”。 Quote
paperbagprince23 Posted January 7, 2012 at 05:45 PM Author Report Posted January 7, 2012 at 05:45 PM 见到周公了 Not really what I am looking for, but it is nice to learn a new phrase. thanks Quote
Wesley Zhu Posted April 9, 2012 at 06:49 PM Report Posted April 9, 2012 at 06:49 PM As a native speaker from eastern China, I first met “发梦” in Cantonese, and I think it's not a common word in Mandarin. 做梦可以作为书面语,and I don't think I can find another word to replace it, sorry Quote
