New Members Going4gold Posted January 13, 2012 at 07:21 AM New Members Report Share Posted January 13, 2012 at 07:21 AM Good day, would someone be able to help with a translation for these Chinese New Year menu items? I have been unsuccessful in finding the definition using my dictionary. 碧绿豪皇扒鲍脯 (花开富贵) 富丽清蒸深水鲜 (吉庆有余) 东坡喜庆吃四方 (横财就手) 铁板沙茶串牛柳 (龙风呈祥) Many thanks in advance. imluffy Posted January 13, 2012 at 12:28 PM Report Share Posted January 13, 2012 at 12:28 PM It's hard for me to translate all of the, but I can tell you what food are they. The first one is 鲍鱼(sea-ear),the second one is 深水鱼(fish in deep water),the third one is 东坡肉 (Dongpo pork),and the final one is 牛柳(tenderloin of cattle). David Wong Posted January 13, 2012 at 12:41 PM Report Share Posted January 13, 2012 at 12:41 PM 鲍鱼 is more commonly known as abalone. Chinese New Year banquet menus are typically written in flowery/poetic language, and quite often the dishes themselves have a more well known everyday name. The second dish would be steamed fish. The fourth is sizzling beef in sacha sauce.
