New Members oakleaf Posted January 14, 2012 at 08:21 PM New Members Report Posted January 14, 2012 at 08:21 PM I have studied Chinese vocabulary and grammar and now wish to integrate my knowledge and develop a good writing style by reading Chinese literature. Would you recommend reading newspaper articles, or reading novels by any particular authors? Quote
skylee Posted January 16, 2012 at 04:29 PM Report Posted January 16, 2012 at 04:29 PM Besides textbooks, what have you read so far? Perhaps you can join the others to read 余華's novel “活着"? Take a look at this thread -> http://www.chinese-forums.com/index.php?/topic/34866-reading-yu-huas-to-live/ and see if you you can read it comfortably. If you find it suitable for your level, you can read the other books by Yu Hua, or take a look at those on the thread "What are you reading". There are a lot of different suggestions on this forum, but without knowing your level it is difficult to make more meaningful suggestions. Quote
rezaf Posted January 16, 2012 at 04:42 PM Report Posted January 16, 2012 at 04:42 PM Recently I try to watch more 古裝 TV series like 步步驚心 and 宮(with my wife). Although they are girly I think they are quite useful for learning literary words and idioms. Quote
