Greetings to all! I have been searching this for quite some time and have not had any luck finding the information I need. This is probably in the wrong section but if anyone is able to help me with some Chinese money toad superstitions that would be much appreciated.

I am planning to get the money toad tattooed on my left inner arm/bicep and was wondering if there is any superstitions in the placement of the toad. Would there be some significant meaning if the toad was facing inside toward my body or facing outwards? I have read that placing the toads in corners are ideal but there are certain "corners" that bring bad luck. Is the inner arm/bicep area considered good or bad?

Thank you in advance for any input!

I am not sure about other Asian regions, but I don’t think tattoo is regarded as “bad luck”in China. Many young boys and girls get tattooed. It’s purely an aesthetic issue to get one or not. Nevertheless, it might be necessary to learn a little history to get to know what you are tattooing on yourself.

All I can assure you is that money toad does represent good luck in China, but where to locate and which direction/corner to go would be a too deep question, even for the majority of Chinese. So I suggest you let go that concern and focus on “does this look cool”?

Not sure about bad/good luck regarding tattoo. But when I searched the Hong Kong Laws website today, I came across a law that says that it is illegal to tattoo anyone who is aged below 18 (Chapter 323). (And I suppose when one reaches 18 one is no longer a young boy or girl.) Very interesting law, which also reflects that tattoo is not a matter to be taken so lightly.

I suppose there are similar laws in other parts of the world.

PS - just to clarify, the law I mentioned is valid in Hong Kong, not Mainland China.
