renshanrenhai Posted January 29, 2012 at 02:35 PM Report Posted January 29, 2012 at 02:35 PM 对于柏拉图来说,道德就在于恢复我们已经失去了的内在和谐。它意味着将那个我们的理性为欲望和肉体刺激所征服的过程颠倒过来。 I came across the two sentences in a translated book and had difficulty to get the logic of the second one. Though I got it after a few minutes of thinking, I wonder if the difficulty is caused by my poor understanding or the poor translation. Is it a good sentence in Chinese ? (I personally don't think so. What's your view, Kenny Woo ?) How would you reorganize this sentence ? Quote
Kenny同志 Posted July 25, 2014 at 05:32 AM Report Posted July 25, 2014 at 05:32 AM Sorry for my belated reply. You were right. The sentence is terrible. Here's my rewrite: 在柏拉圖看來,道德的價值在於它能喚醒良知,把人邪惡的欲望壓制下去。 Without the original, however, it's hard to tell what the Chinese translation exactly means, therefore my rewrite may not be completely accurate.
