Primers, Readers, and Parallel Texts

Hello, this is my first post, but I've browsed the forum plenty.

I just recently started studying Mandarin using Assimil's Chinese with Ease. I'm only 2 weeks in or so. I actually have a couple of resources: Chinese Link textbook/workbook/cds, a frequency dictionary, first 100 characters, Schaum's Chinese grammar, Barron's: Mandarin Chinese the Easy Way, Chinese through tone and color, and NPCR vol. 1 second edition.

Now, I've seen posts on here about graded readers (Chinese Breeze, Graded Chinese Reader, etc.). Well, I was wondering if anyone knew of any books like Breaking into Japanese Literature except for Mandarin (preferably simplified characters). Basically, if you take a look at the preview on Amazon, you'll see that it's a parallel text with almost all the vocab and advanced grammar underneath the story.

The reason I like this method is because I can feel as though I'm making progress learning this way, having been able to read a whole story in the language I'm learning, and seeing all the vocab and grammar in context. Personally, I hate learning by theme, which is how many textbooks like to organize their material.

Assmil is like this, and I think NPCR is sort of like this, but there seems to be so many extra exercises and such that I'm not really sure how to work through it. I already know the phonology of Mandarin, so looking through the beginning of NPCR looks slow-paced to me, but I'm sure it picks up and gets more focused.

TL:DR: Are there any books like this for Mandarin? Readers with almost all the vocab listed.

Thanks in advance!
