sthubbar Posted February 15, 2012 at 02:51 PM Report Posted February 15, 2012 at 02:51 PM According to this article, is sounds like Apple made a big mistake by not following mainland China law. http://tabletcrunch.com/2012/02/14/ipads-in-china/ Those of you on the mainland, any reports of the iPads disappearing form stores, whether official Apple store or non-official store? kari Posted February 15, 2012 at 02:59 PM Report Posted February 15, 2012 at 02:59 PM Yeah big mistake. Taiwanese law and Chinese law aren't the same even though its all considered China. Quote
T-revor Posted February 15, 2012 at 05:05 PM Report Posted February 15, 2012 at 05:05 PM And as we speak, China’s Administration of Industry and Commerce is confiscating, criminal like, any iPads it finds for sale – basically pulling them right off the shelves. While they're at it they might want to walk down to every corner DVD store in the country. Quote
icebear Posted February 15, 2012 at 06:40 PM Report Posted February 15, 2012 at 06:40 PM This is also of interest: http://www.macrumors.com/2012/02/15/chinese-customs-tells-proview-that-ban-of-ipad-exports-would-be-difficult/ "The customs have told us that it will be difficult to implement a ban because many Chinese consumers love Apple products. The sheer size of the market is very big," Yang Long-san, chief of Proview Technology (Shenzhen), told Reuters in a telephone interview on Wednesday. In the end I doubt any widespread, lasting ban will be implemented, either on paper or reality; some agreement will be reached, probably with Chinese authorities pressuring ProView to concede for a lesser amount than demanded. If a ban on exports was actually implemented the chilling effect for investment in Chinese manufacturing facilities would be far too large/risky. Quote
