roddy Posted February 23, 2012 at 11:13 AM Report Posted February 23, 2012 at 11:13 AM Yeah, those models are obviously not your average 'prettiest teacher I know' ones you usually get in these videos, so someone's actually put at least a little time and money into this. It would be interesting to know who, and what plans they have. Quote

msittig Posted February 23, 2012 at 01:28 PM Report Posted February 23, 2012 at 01:28 PM Apparently it is related to "Michael Gleissner", a guy in HK who makes movies, and who is "in a relationship" with the original poster on Facebook. Started an English-language teaching company (Cleverlearn), apparently now branching out into teaching Chinese? Quote

c_redman Posted February 23, 2012 at 03:38 PM Report Posted February 23, 2012 at 03:38 PM I don't understand, Anna Sophie Loewenberg wasn't in any of those videos. Actually, there was some useful new vocabulary in the clips. However, I was unable to understand most of the fast mumbled speaking of the actresses. It could just be blood loss to the brain, though. 1 Quote
feihong Posted February 23, 2012 at 03:55 PM Report Posted February 23, 2012 at 03:55 PM There's a large volume discrepancy between the actresses' dialogue and the instructional portions. Also, I don't much like the narrator's accent. Quote
Brian US Posted February 24, 2012 at 02:13 AM Report Posted February 24, 2012 at 02:13 AM The narrator‘s accent is pretty dreadful, but does reinforce my idea of a porn shoot (pretty girls and a creepy older guy). Quote

Brian US Posted February 24, 2012 at 01:38 PM Report Posted February 24, 2012 at 01:38 PM Might want to stick to packaged goods. Fruit and vegetables might get you more than you asked for. 1 Quote

大肚男 Posted February 24, 2012 at 09:06 PM Report Posted February 24, 2012 at 09:06 PM while obviously not for serious learners, I can see it being very useful if your purpose is to impress someone with couple phrases at a Chinese restaurant or something. Plus, it could be the perfect front for a prostitution network 1 Quote

roddy Posted February 25, 2012 at 10:08 AM Report Posted February 25, 2012 at 10:08 AM Not sure if it's actually them, or if they're sponsoring it or something. Tottora, fill us in, you're being far too coy - might work with the Apple Daily, but the folk on here need a bit more than five minutes of titillating Youtube vids. Quote
Guest realmayo Posted February 25, 2012 at 11:45 AM Report Posted February 25, 2012 at 11:45 AM The website does say: If you are serious about learning Mandarin Chinese please contact our sponsor - New Concept Mandarin. Quote
tottora Posted February 25, 2012 at 11:51 AM Author Report Posted February 25, 2012 at 11:51 AM New Concept Mandarin is our sponsor! But I truly believe in education with a bit of fun and excitement as you would definitely learn faster. I went to Shanghai Jiao Tong university for 6 months but the most chinese I learnt was from shopping at Qipulu, and the fake market the more you learn on the street, the cheaper things got! Quote
