Beginner's Mnemosyne questions

Recommended Posts

Posted

Hello all,

May I ask a few beginner's Mnemosyne questions:

1. What exactly is the difference between "grade 2" and "grade 3", if any?

2. Why does Mnemosyne often show me exactly the same card again after I press "grade 0", even though there are other grade-0 cards in the session?

3. Why does Mnemosyne show more and more new cards in one session, many more than the 5 "grade 0" cards it is supposed to show per day? Instead of reviewing older poorly-memorized cards?

Thank you!

Actually, I am an oldtimer in Mnemosyne and I don't have a good answer for you.

1. Little difference between grade 2 and grade 3. There's a big difference with grade 5. If you have a big deck, you won't see a grade 5 card for a long time.

2. Yes, this is one of the quirks in Mnemosyne that always irritated me big time. There's supposed to be a major update to Mnemosyne coming out soon--maybe it is already available. I hope it will take care of this idiosyncrasy.

3. Ditto as the answer above.

I have been using Mnemosyne for a long time and i have several big decks (one category has close to 10,000 cards). I still use Mnemosyne every day but now i give everything a grade 2 and i believe it doesn't make a bit of difference.

Well, i have not been able to be of much help to you but at least you got a reply. I hope some of the other users chime in on the status of the Mnemosyne update.

Sorry, I don't have time to answer your questions.

Since they're developing version 2 now, it would be a good time for suggestions and complaints.

I've seen the alpha, and I can say that it looks easy to use (compared to some).

The developer of Mnemosyne is very active and posts often in Google+.

Does this link get you there?

Do you know about the forum? You could probably search for your issues there:
