Friedrich Posted February 28, 2012 at 01:22 PM Report Posted February 28, 2012 at 01:22 PM first: I did do a search before asking this - but couldnt find any good replies. Anyone can recommend a "resourcesful" visa agent who has some special guanxi? I have one recommended through my school, but they cant renew my visa (the peoples congress) they say - so need someone else. Trustworthy and reliable - if such a thing exists in this market. Anyone who has successfuly been helped with a difficult visa please let me know the contact, either here in the forum or via pm. I still have a month left, but starting to get nervous.... Quote
Gymnosopher Posted February 29, 2012 at 06:22 AM Report Posted February 29, 2012 at 06:22 AM What are you looking to change your visa to and from? If from study visa to 1 month travel visa I know it's possible but a little tricky - and if you're worrying with only a month left now I guess an extra month isn't what you're looking for (though I don't know whether you'd be able to successively apply for extensions to the travel visa, as I know before at least a 3 month travel visa could be extended in country with little problem - though again was only looking for a one month when going through that process). Anyway in case this helps you or anyone that may search for this another time, if you have a study visa with a school (i.e. you used their documentation to get it and so you're tied to them) that's about to expire you can get a 1 month (at least? not sure about longer) travel visa for after this. You will need a letter from the school saying that you (name inc. passport number and nationality) were a student at the school between dates x and y - that you have completed your studies as of date z and the school recognises/accepts/permits (this bit's a little sketchy) you to stay in China on a travel visa until date w. Not sure what the limits of the extension date would be though. This needs to have the school stamp on it, as does your application form for visa/residence permit - even though you're not continuing studying there. They might be funny about this and make excuses about being responsible for you and if anything happens it could come back to them so you'll probably end up signing a disclaimer promising you'll be a good boy and exempt the school from any liability should anything untoward occur. Otherwise, if you're continuing to study (and your school is legitimate?) it should just be a case of filling in the visa application form with the school to state dates of your course, that you are continuing studying, with them signing and stamping it. Again this is just to the best of my knowledge, when going through visa applications myself I was at once told I should just look at the visa website online - though obviously nothing's just black and white when there's so much red around.
