Help with Translation into English

I'm quite mesmerized by the song below but I've got stuck at understanding some places. Can someone run through the literal meaning of the highlighted lines for me?

(You can of course go further than just the highlighted and the literal meaning, if you're so inspired! )

( Actually, it point to the feelings like fly)

Take the dark of night as a pillow

(You can simply comprehend it as "in night")

But the night out of the window is quite colorful

Most of them seem to come down to the vocabulary, as none of the words (or senses) you mentioned is in my pitiful dictionaries.

As a Chinese speaker, do you just get the senses by the combinations of the characters, or will these words be in a good dictionary? 飞扬, 黯自, 神伤, 霓裳, etc.

Additionally,霓裳 in Chinese always be understood as The scenery from the nion lights that the things look like they wear some types of clothes.
