New Members JohnDoeJr Posted March 8, 2012 at 09:49 AM New Members Report Posted March 8, 2012 at 09:49 AM Hello, I'm currently looking for a place to study Chinese during the summer. Initially I focused on Shenyang, however, since there is not much to choose there, I also looked at the city of Xi'an. Looks like a nice city but so far I only found one school (international house). Does anyone know this school? And if so, is it good? Does anyone know any other language schools in Xi'an? I don't want to go to a university, just a language school with small groups / private tutoring. Thank you! John Quote
New Members cih_ih Posted April 1, 2012 at 07:46 AM New Members Report Posted April 1, 2012 at 07:46 AM Hey I’m currently living in Wudang (Hubei) where I do little bit of this and that... the thing is that my Chinese speaking skill does not progress to much since last year of being here that’s why I like to move to Xian at the beginning of September 2012 to attend some language course/school for a 6 months... so the question is: ...what would be the best option for intense studying of mandarin in Xian (just to make it clear I’m not crazy enough to pay 5000 euro for International House ) if anyone can recommend something I’ll be really grateful....??? ....also is there some way to find a accommodation with some Chinese people in Xian ..?????? ...thanks to everyone who like to share their experience.... ...may the force be with u ... kungpao_chicken Posted April 8, 2012 at 07:38 PM Report Posted April 8, 2012 at 07:38 PM In a place like Xi'an you dont have to bother finding a school first. The city is full of smaller schools and private instructors. I have a very close friend that runs a school there and can probably help out. PM me for his email address. IH-Xi'an is super expensive and thats before you pay for a place to stay at. If you want the education without having to worry about the details, I would suggest 1to1Mandarin in Harbin. Their fees include an apartment, they have excellent teachers, and you will be in a city that will pressure you to learn quicker. Also Harbin is much cooler in the summertime compared to everywhere else in china. Quote
roddy Posted April 10, 2012 at 02:16 PM Report Posted April 10, 2012 at 02:16 PM Kungpao, just stick the details of your friends school up here if you want, no need to do it via pm - in fact we discourage it. As long as you're open about any relationship and keep it factual, we're happy. Quote
kungpao_chicken Posted April 10, 2012 at 03:27 PM Report Posted April 10, 2012 at 03:27 PM no thanks, just delete my post then. If it's a school I freely share the information, but this is a personal friend and the last thing I want is him getting slammed with requests for help. I offered the OP help, and they can take me up on it if they want. Quote
roddy Posted April 10, 2012 at 05:26 PM Report Posted April 10, 2012 at 05:26 PM Oh, no worries, thought it was a school. I don't think there's much of a danger of anyone getting slammed with requests for help after a post on here though. Quote
