Kenny同志 Posted March 9, 2012 at 10:35 AM Report Posted March 9, 2012 at 10:35 AM Attached is a screenshot. I've installed about 20 programs on my PC. Inexplicably, only three of them can be seen under 程序和功能. I’ve run my 360 anti-virus program once, but in vain. Does anyone know what’s wrong with my computer? How can I fix this problem? Many thanks for your help in advance. Quote
T-revor Posted March 9, 2012 at 05:44 PM Report Posted March 9, 2012 at 05:44 PM Looks like you're in for some work in the registry maybe? http://support.microsoft.com/kb/266668 Quote
Kenny同志 Posted March 10, 2012 at 01:56 AM Author Report Posted March 10, 2012 at 01:56 AM Thank you, Revor. But unfortunately, the article is too technical for me to understand. I think I will hire a specialist to fix this. By the way, I have got neither of the two messages mentioned in the article. Quote
imron Posted March 10, 2012 at 02:11 AM Report Posted March 10, 2012 at 02:11 AM What programs do you have installed? Programs need to register themselves with this list of installed programs, and if they don't register themselves they won't appear on the list. Quote
animal world Posted March 11, 2012 at 04:15 PM Report Posted March 11, 2012 at 04:15 PM Did you install an upgrade or temporary free trial recently that may have messed up your computer??? I suggest this because that caused a big problem to one of my computers. I have two Toshiba laptops. On the new one I installed the paid version of Avast antivirus software (I hate Norton) and it worked fine. On the older one, i ran the free version of Avast (which worked fine as well). A little over a month ago Avast asked me whether i want to run their paid version for a 30-day trial and then I could buy it at a reduced price. Unfortunately, I said yes and, unfortunately, soon after accepting this trial I forgot all about it. A few weeks ago all of a sudden this computer started to crash often and it would take hours of fiddling to get it to run normally again. I figured my beloved old laptop was about to give up the ghost. One day, all of a sudden there was this message from Avast saying that my 30-day free trial was about to expire. Aha, THAT was the cause of all the crashes! I suppose that with the 30-day trial something didn't get uninstalled and caused a conflict and infinite grief to me. Anyway, long story short, hope you manage to fix your computer soon! Quote
Kenny同志 Posted March 12, 2012 at 02:53 AM Author Report Posted March 12, 2012 at 02:53 AM I am not sure exactly when this happened but the programs disappeared from the list after I downloaded an application which turned out to be malicious; it couldn’t be removed manually, nor could it be removed by my QQ 管家. At last I resorted to a specialised program and shattered it. I think this might be the cause for the problem. I shall go to a computer repair shop a couple of days later and see what it can do about the glitch. Thanks for your information! And thanks Imron. Quote
gato Posted March 12, 2012 at 02:57 AM Report Posted March 12, 2012 at 02:57 AM At last I resorted to a specialised program and shattered it. What program is that? It might have damaged the registry information. Quote
Kenny同志 Posted March 12, 2012 at 02:58 AM Author Report Posted March 12, 2012 at 02:58 AM It was 优化大师. Quote
Kenny同志 Posted March 12, 2012 at 03:01 AM Author Report Posted March 12, 2012 at 03:01 AM Correction: I used 优化大师 to remove the application. Technically I didn't shatter it. If my memory serves me right, I think I initially used 360 to shatter it, but failed. Quote
gato Posted March 12, 2012 at 03:18 AM Report Posted March 12, 2012 at 03:18 AM Looks like you are not the only one with the problem. At least the people with the problem still seem to have a sense of humor. http://zhidao.baidu....&cid=90&index=3 用windows优化大师把注册表里的软件安装信息删除完了,怎么办?

gato Posted March 12, 2012 at 03:48 AM Report Posted March 12, 2012 at 03:48 AM Also take a look at this. If your system has a "restore point" before it became corrupted by the Trojan program, you might be able to restore back to that point and recover the damaged registry. http://windows.microsoft.com/zh-CN/windows7/products/features/system-restore 系统还原 http://www.duote.com/tech/2/5508.html Windows 7自修复技巧 Quote
imron Posted March 12, 2012 at 03:50 AM Report Posted March 12, 2012 at 03:50 AM Just make sure you don't restore the bad program also @kenny, so reinstalling the individual applications didn't work? Quote
Kenny同志 Posted March 12, 2012 at 03:54 AM Author Report Posted March 12, 2012 at 03:54 AM Thanks a bunch, Gato. @ Imron I haven't tried that yet, but the application I installed yesterday can be displayed properly. 这两天忙得焦头烂额. Quote
Kenny同志 Posted March 12, 2012 at 04:25 AM Author Report Posted March 12, 2012 at 04:25 AM Not sure how the asker fixed the problem but the answer he/she selected didn't give details. PS: I thought there were detailed instructions on fixing the problem but upon closer reading, I found that the instructions were acutally for locating something. Quote
Kenny同志 Posted March 12, 2012 at 05:27 AM Author Report Posted March 12, 2012 at 05:27 AM Two attempts I made to restore my computer to an earlier system state failed. The first time I was told that my anti-virus software might have prevented the restoration so I turned it off and ran the restoration a second time, but that didn’t work out either. Quote
