It is unlikely that you will find a list of Windows or other Microsoft software messages.

However, you can find such message lists for open source software and some non-open source software.

For Windows programs, search for files named *zh_CN*, *zh_TW* or *zh_HK*, or simply *zh*, in your "Program Files" folder.

If you have Linux, you can also search for the same file name patterns in /usr/share for instance.

EDIT: (some files found with the above methods may not be in an easily readable format, but some may be simple UTF8 or GB text files.)

Generally, for open source software, you can download the source code from the Internet and then look for the *zh_CN* or *zh-CN* files.

For instance, take OpenOffice:

Download the l10n source package from http://www.openoffic...html#tested-sdk

Uncompress it.

You can find the simplified Chinese messages in file

OOO330_m20/l10n/source/zh-CN/localize.sdf

There are lots of other language files, including English.

(Actually the OpenOffice localization files are huge, because it's complex software with thousands of messages.

But you can do the same thing with simpler programs of course.)
