HK0808 Posted March 20, 2012 at 03:17 AM Report Posted March 20, 2012 at 03:17 AM I am a Japanese living in Hong Kong with my wife from Dalian, China and three year's old daughter. We have been already one year in Shanghai, followed by two years in Hong Kong since our daughter was born, and they seem to be manged to live in the life in Hong Kong and especially English speaking nursery for my daughter. The other day, I happened to have an offer from my HQ in Tokyo to accept my new assignment in Changsha coming Summer or to go back to Japan. Since we wish our daughter may continue some more time, possibly up to the age of six, can enjoy the English and Chinese speaking environment, we would rather take a chance to go to Changsha, but are bit concerned about educational circumstance in Changsha. I'm happy if anyone, expats working in Changsha, can give me some advise about the family life in Changsha. Quote
yialanliu Posted March 20, 2012 at 06:15 AM Report Posted March 20, 2012 at 06:15 AM Could you clarify the age of your daughter and how long is this assignment in Changsha going to last? Quote
HK0808 Posted March 20, 2012 at 06:25 AM Author Report Posted March 20, 2012 at 06:25 AM Thanks indeed for your quick reply. My daughter is going to be three on coming June, and she was supposed to go to ESF kindergarten Hong Kong, and we are looking for similar one in Changsha. My assignment probably will be minimum three years, and maximum 5 years. However, I actually don't know whether we will go back to Japan afterwards, and there may be another chances going somewhere else in China or other places. Quote
yialanliu Posted March 20, 2012 at 06:43 AM Report Posted March 20, 2012 at 06:43 AM I believe there's 2 international school, 1 truly international and the other I say it is not but they still name it that way. Changsha WES which I think is a true international school and only accepts foreigners.. Lushan International School which I think is not a true international school and accepts Chinese students. I don't know of anyone in WES but I had met a foreigner who had to pull out of Changha in 2007 because at the time, there wasn't a true international school for her kid. So I am taking it to mean Lushan isn't a true international school. With WES opened now, I think that at least is an option for you and the site seems legitimate. http://www.cwa-chang...do=info,Welcome Keep in mind that this is from a a contact in Shanghai who left, not from me personally. But it seems reasonable since I know here in Beilun, Donghai is an experimental school and it is definitely not Western by any definition. Quote
