Saxondale Posted March 29, 2012 at 05:41 AM Report Share Posted March 29, 2012 at 05:41 AM As part of my 口语 class, i had to hand in a short paragraph about getting a haircut in China. Everything about it was fine apart from this particular sentence: 去理发店的时候,我常常找一样的理发师。 The part in bold is the issue. I got everything checked by a native chinese speaker before handing it in, so i'm not quite sure what the issue is. My teacher told me i have to use 同一位 instead of 一样的 but with my limited Chinese and her limited English, i couldn't really understand why. i'm trying to say that i often have the same hairdresser. some clarification would be much appreciated! creamyhorror Posted March 29, 2012 at 06:13 AM Report Share Posted March 29, 2012 at 06:13 AM 样 = type, sort 一样的 = one sort of (= the same sort of) 我常常找一样的理发师 = I often look for the same sort of hairdresser 同 = same 同一位 = the same [one] 我常常找同一位理发师。 = I often look for that same hairdresser In fact, you can add 同 to the first sentence to emphasise the similiarity: -- 我常常找同一样的理发师 = I often look for the same sort of hairdresser or switch it to a negative: -- 我常常找不一样的理发师 = I often look for not-the-same sort of hairdresser = ...a different sort of hairdresser (in this case this may possibly be interpreted as "a different hairdresser", but I'm not so sure - wouldn't say it myself) You can also specify "a different hairdresser" with: -- 我常常找不同的理发师 = I often look for different hairdressers (although this isn't the best way to phrase it in this context) Hope that clarifies it.
panpan86 Posted March 29, 2012 at 06:14 AM Report Share Posted March 29, 2012 at 06:14 AM 位 is a measure word for a person, so 同一位 means the same individual. 一样的 describes two things that are identical to each other. I think that's right anyway
Mindmaxd Posted March 29, 2012 at 07:41 AM Report Share Posted March 29, 2012 at 07:41 AM Here you should say 一样的 always to say A and B or A, B,C...they are the same(two or more than two things)Well your hairdresser is just one people,so you should use 同一位。

shinewind Posted March 29, 2012 at 09:20 AM Report Share Posted March 29, 2012 at 09:20 AM are you sure about this? ------------------------------ -- 我常常找同一样的理发师 = I often look for the same sort of hairdresser Cause I kinda believe it should be “同样的” instead of “同一样的” and the right use of “同一样的” should be “同…一样的” 我想要一条同一样的裙子. (This is weird enough to me… Never heard this anywhere…) (Also OK and you can substitute “同” with“和” here)
creamyhorror Posted March 29, 2012 at 09:39 AM Report Share Posted March 29, 2012 at 09:39 AM Cause I kinda believe it should be “同样的” instead of “同一样的” and the right use of “同一样的” should be “同…一样的” I see a fair number of examples on Google: 不少人还有亲属在内地生活,流着同一样的血液,用同一样的语言 我们在同一样的环境之中,需要携手共进 同一样的政策资源,同一样的历史背景,同一样的人民 因此常常会遇到大家的饭碗里竟然都是同一样的茄子 为什么做同一样的工作,我的工资却比她的多出三百元? 发言人也是用同一样的语言 I do think that 同样 is more common and everyday, while 同一样 has greater emphasis and may be more commonly used in rhetorical or emotional speech. That's fine, I often do the same thing and think something sounds funny, then I google it and find that it's acceptable Learning never stops~
imron Posted March 29, 2012 at 11:34 PM Report Share Posted March 29, 2012 at 11:34 PM I google it and find that it's acceptable Just remember that Google will happily show acceptable and non-acceptable results regardless
panpan86 Posted March 30, 2012 at 03:16 AM Report Share Posted March 30, 2012 at 03:16 AM i also use the google-check. It works well when you have two possible variants and you aren't sure which is right. The one with the largest number of results is the more correct (or at least commonly used) one
