civic94 Posted April 10, 2012 at 07:46 PM Author Report Posted April 10, 2012 at 07:46 PM I was in Zhengzhou for a few days. I found exactly one foreigners' bar, and the owner there told me there were only 300 foreigners in the whole city. Take that for what it's worth. well I have the power to be both . Im abc so I can be a foreigner if I want, and act like a local and blend in if I want. Ive heard stories where foreigners get ripped off at markets because they dont look chinese. Quote

Ive heard stories where foreigners get ripped off at markets because they dont look chinese. I'd be careful with that statement. Anyone can get ripped off by scam artists, not just foreigners who don't look Chinese. Even natives from a different city can end up paying more at markets once the locals realize that they're not from there. Quote
tooironic Posted April 10, 2012 at 09:11 PM Report Posted April 10, 2012 at 09:11 PM True. They even have a word for it in Chinese - 欺生. Quote
