geraldc Posted April 7, 2012 at 09:24 PM Report Posted April 7, 2012 at 09:24 PM Just incase anyone in the UK wants to watch CCTV 4, 9 or news on their big screen TV, they are now available on channel 111 on Freeview HD boxes. Not strictly free to air, as you will still need an internet connection for it to work, but they're there if anyone wants to watch them. Quote
elliott50 Posted April 8, 2012 at 06:12 AM Report Posted April 8, 2012 at 06:12 AM Have you tried it yourself geraldc? I would like to watch, but have yet to locate a suitable Freeview HD box. If anyone actually has it working in their home, please would you post the details here! Thanks. Quote
neverending Posted April 9, 2012 at 01:15 PM Report Posted April 9, 2012 at 01:15 PM Purely out of interest, I tried getting this set up last night - I happen to have a tv with Freeview HD built-in. However, despite the fact my TV has an ethernet port, it doesn't support streaming. After navigating to CCTV, I get an error about my device not being compatible. Supposedly the Freeview HD standard demands that all receivers have an ethernet port, and an ability to connect to the Internet, but no such demands about actually doing anything useful with this. There are some rumours there'll be a firmware update at some point to support streaming on certain boxes, but I'm not exactly holding my breath. Anyway, if anyone gets a Freeview HD receiver/tv with the intention of watching CCTV, make sure it clearly supports Internet streaming out-of-the-box. Quote
geraldc Posted April 9, 2012 at 02:49 PM Author Report Posted April 9, 2012 at 02:49 PM We're using a TVonics DTR HD 500. Works fine with that. Video quality is pretty good. 1 Quote
