LyYenKhang Posted April 10, 2012 at 01:27 PM Report Share Posted April 10, 2012 at 01:27 PM This thread is related to my Kangxi Dictionary thread. Since I can't seem to register on DangDang (It says I need a phone-number, and my American phone number isn't accepted), I've been looking around online Chinese bookstores in America. One of them carries the 古汉语常用字字典(第4版)(繁体字本) [平装]. Before I buy the book, I'd like to know if the *Definitions* are given in Classical Chinese style (like the Shuo-Wen dictionary) or in Bai-Hua. Thank you. The book being sold seems to be an older edition of this: http://www.amazon.cn/%E5%8F%A4%E6%B1%89%E8%AF%AD%E5%B8%B8%E7%94%A8%E5%AD%97%E5%AD%97%E5%85%B8/dp/B004X3XPA2/ref=sr_1_8?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1332996200&sr=1-

LyYenKhang Posted April 14, 2012 at 05:13 PM Author Report Share Posted April 14, 2012 at 05:13 PM I've never really adjusted to reading things of great length on the internet, and frankly, there are few books that look nicer on the bookshelf than a Kangxi dictionary! I suppose that since the definitions are in baihua, this is yet another impetus to learn baihua... By the way, does anyone know how to bypass the telephone number requirement on DangDang? I've registered by the continue my registration they are asking me for a phone number in the Chinese format, and I don't have one since I live in America.
