Meng Lelan Posted April 25, 2012 at 11:02 PM Report Posted April 25, 2012 at 11:02 PM A good quality beginner/intermediate pipa, where do you go and how much? Where in the Shanghai area, Taiwan, or anywhere else? Quote

HedgePig Posted April 26, 2012 at 05:13 AM Report Posted April 26, 2012 at 05:13 AM There are two places where I've seen a number of stores selling musical instruments. (1) Jin Ling Lu (金陵东路)This runs east-west. It's close to the Bund although you might have to walk west (away) for a couple of blocks before you reach the music shops. (2) Around the Shanghai Conservatory of Music (approximately at the intersection of Fuxing Lu and Fenyang Lu / 复兴中路 and 汾阳路) There are fewer shops and they are a bit more spread out. I've also seen mostly Western instruments here and I can't specifically recall having seen a pipa although I probably wouldn't remember even if I had. I have no idea about the quality at either of these areas. 1 Quote
