CHENG and CH'I (help plzz!)

Could be a combination. :P

I've relayed stories to my wife after an evening out with friends, only for her to say "yeah, I was there when she told you." My resonse, "Oh, somehow I remembered that conversation being in Chinese."

Ha, yeah. I have had times when I've read something and relayed it to someone, only to find that not only could I not remember where I read it, I also couldn't remember which language I had read it in. Granted, one of the languages in question was not Chinese at the time, but maybe soon! :D

I got the correct translation because I looked up 奇 but accidentally posted 寄 .

I take your point about sounding too sure of myself and will ensure in the future to be more careful.

After all this, I still can not work out what it means in english :)

According to OneEye's link, it's an old martial term, meaning both "proper" fighting styles, like standing off on the front lines, and "perverted" styles, like ambushes. I may be taking some liberties with that gist translation.
