Depends on how you define "okay" and "uncommon". If by okay you meant legally and socially acceptable then it is. As for the commonness I think it is comparative; it is less common than neutral colours such as white, navy blue and grey but may be more common than some other bright colours like florescent green or reflective gold and silver.

Common enough where I am that I wouldn't look twice. There are people wearing much stranger stuff than that on the streets...

What stranger stuff do they wear?

In some countries in the far east, guys wearing pink are considered to be gay or girly. I wonder if it is the same in China.

I like guys in pink shirts, less boring it seems. And pink shirts usually look quite nice. :)

Obviously you don't suffer from the pink polo shirt/popped collar combo in Hong Kong.

In Korea, it is common to see guys wearing pink or using items in pink. There is no problem. In Japan, guys do not do that as they are perceived as gay or girly. So, I wonder how it is like in China. I am also interested in whether this is socially acceptable. Will people laugh at me or find me strange if I wear pink or use items in pink?

Some of the clothing worn by men here is extremely effeminate. When my mother came to visit me we had an argument about whether this clothing store in Wanda Plaza was for men or women. My mother told me that it was obviously for women and no man would ever wear such clothing.

Yeah I asked it was for men.

So I don't think a pink shirt is that weird.

It is kind of like this in the US as well. However, when I was in college (about 2004-2009) there was a huge trend among fratboys to wear pink polo shirts. Often with the collar popped, of course. The idea was that because pink is traditionally a girl color, the man was showing that he was extra-manly by wearing it. For people not in the Greek system, however, the pink polo was taken as a badge of douche-baggery.

timeruler, sounds like a rather uncouth way of saying short skirt. Wouldn't go well with your pink shirt. Wouldn't want people questioning your manliness or making assumptions about your sexual orientation. Play it safe, wear beige.

Now you see a (presumably Chinese) man wearing pink right up there.

齐逼短裙

Do not use this word in front of a female under any circumstances.

I had a Japanese friend in Taiwan who would wear calf-length pink pants. He was so hip that it didn't make him look gay, it only made him look even hipper. But that is rare.

I haven't really noticed men in Beijing wearing pink shirts, but I haven't paid particular attention either. I doubt people will think you're gay, unless you give them a lot other reason to think that. From what I know, 'gay' is just not a category that is really on people's mind here, and so men don't worry about being perceived as such. To the point that until a few years ago you could still see male friends walk around holding hands.

"What stranger stuff do they wear?"

Glasses without lenses.

Yeah, the glasses thing happens here in Taiwan too. I really don't get it. As far as pink goes, I wear a pink and white striped oxford cloth shirt fairly frequently, and don't get any negative comments about it.
