Internship in a different city

Hi everyone,

There's a possibility I'll be offered an internship for the coming summer holidays, with the view for it being a chance to get in early experience for a possible a career option after I graduate. I'm currently studying in Xiamen University for a BA, and will graduate next summer.

I've looked up topics here and from what I can best see, doing an unpaid internship on an X visa is apparently okay since Chinese regulations say said visa can be used for internships (http://www.chinese-forums.com/index.php?/topic/35297-internship-on-a-student-visa/). Great.

However, the company is located in Zhangzhou, a small third-tier city neighbouring Xiamen. I'm unsure whether or not it's still within the visa rules to do an internship somewhere outside your visa's issuing city. Do you think there would be any problem with this? Say, moving there for two months, following normal registration procedures and so on?

Lastly, Xiamen University is the sponsor of my visa/resident permit; my purpose here being to study. Woud you say it's fine to just be on that visa, both fulfilling your purpose at university and also doing the internship during the holidays? Or does it strictly mean to do an internship, the visa must be solely for that purpose and sponsored by the company?

A real thanks to you all, as always :)

I was thinking about this after I spoke to you about it today Joshua. Would the HR department of this large reputable company be able to help? Sorry to state what seems to be the obvious from somebody outside of China.

I seriously doubt anyone is going to care, especially if it's for a month or two.I wouldn't even ask.
