imron Posted May 8, 2012 at 09:56 PM Report Posted May 8, 2012 at 09:56 PM Are you looking for Chinese literature in Chinese, or Chinese literature that has been translated into English? Quote
kongli Posted May 9, 2012 at 07:10 AM Report Posted May 9, 2012 at 07:10 AM Off the top of my head, some authors you can check out. 张爱玲 钱钟书 王小波 刘呐鸥 鲁迅 茅盾 Quote
creamyhorror Posted May 9, 2012 at 07:39 AM Report Posted May 9, 2012 at 07:39 AM I really enjoy some of the pieces in Qingnian Wenzhai (青年文摘), which is a digest of short-form writing for youth (and therefore suitable for learners). The accompanying illustrations are pretty nice, too. I read the print edition but there are downloadable ebooks: http://www.qnwz.cn/html/ebookdown/ 1 Quote
PineWu Posted May 10, 2012 at 01:42 AM Report Posted May 10, 2012 at 01:42 AM Could you name some of the Chinese books you have read? So I may recommend some that fits your Chinese level. Quote
renzhe Posted May 10, 2012 at 01:08 PM Report Posted May 10, 2012 at 01:08 PM If you're interested in original-language stuff, it's always good to have a look at the Chinese sampler. It gives a nice cross-section of classical and modern literature, including many of the most celebrated works and authors, some complete, some as excerpts. Having a quick read of those will give you a good idea of what you'd enjoy reading. Quote
daofeishi Posted May 10, 2012 at 05:52 PM Report Posted May 10, 2012 at 05:52 PM It depends if you're reading them in Chinese or English translation. In Chinese, Kongli has listed a few good authors. Adding to his list: 莫言 余华 三毛 慕容雪村 残雪 马建 阎连科 Quote

Leihuangdi Posted June 15, 2012 at 02:29 PM Report Posted June 15, 2012 at 02:29 PM For magazines I‘d recommend 《读者》.It's full of insightful(mostly) articles and excerpts from famous works.I like 青年文摘as well but there aren't as many crappy romantic stories in 读者。 Here's a link to an iphone app which downloads the newest issues for you(this is the only thing I can find and I haven't tried it coz I don't have an iphone):http://app.tongbu.com/501085076_duzhewenzhai.html I'd also like to recommend《格言》. It's called 格言because for each article there's one intriguing motto as a conclusion. official website:http://www.geyan.com.cn/txgy/ Quote
